Its agility is impressive, and its digital display, effective settings for different surfaces, and a wide range of accessories make this vacuum user-friendly and versatile.
The drawbacks include a non-free-standing design and a slightly heavy feel after prolonged use. The bin could be more intuitive to use, as it can get messy.
Shark Stratos Upright Vacuum
At number 9 is the Shark Stratos Upright Vacuum, a game-changer for pet owners. Our tester loved its dual rollers for both carpet and hard floors, and the anti-hair wrap feature.
What’s more, it has a Powered Lift-Away mode, perfect for tricky corners and under furniture.
But the cherry on top is the unique Odor Neutralizer Technology. It releases a fresh scent, making your rooms feel cleaner – a blessing for pet homes.
We appreciated the easy-to-clean bin and filters. But, be mindful, it weighs 17lbs, not the best for those with mobility issues.
Also, check the model. The AZ3000 is just a vacuum, but the AZ3002 boasts an array of extra tools and odor cartridges.
Samsung Bespoke Jet Cordless Stick Vacuum

During our testing, we found it super nimble and loved its respectable 60-minute runtime.

Heads up though! While the Jet mode is super effective, it does get quite loud. Also, if you’re on the taller side, the telescopic shaft may feel a tad short – our 5’9 tester found it a bit of a stretch.
But don’t let that deter you; the Bespoke is still a fantastic choice for allergy-suffering pet lovers!
LG CordZero A9 Ultimate
The LG CordZero A9 Ultimate clinches the 7th spot.
Although it doesn’t have the same powerful suction or features as the Dyson V15 Detect, it offers great value for money and performs impressively on pet hair across various surfaces.
The vacuum is sturdily built and comes with a wide variety of accessories, including an extra battery and a Power Punch tool.
The downside is its smaller dustbin and the absence of an automatic power adjustment feature.
Dyson Ball Animal 2
Ranking at 6th place is the Dyson Ball Animal 2.
This vacuum is great on all floor types and particularly good with pet hair. It’s nimble, thanks to Dyson’s famous ball design, and the 35-foot cord means you can cover large areas without changing outlets.
However, at 17lbs, it can be difficult to carry up and down stairs.
iRobot Roomba J7+
Halfway through our list, at number 5, is the iRobot Roomba J7+.
This clever gadget zips around the house in precise lines, dutifully identifying obstacles and waving a red flag at anything from Fido’s favourite chew toy to those pesky thin power cords.
Not just a smart-aleck, it’s a stellar performer too, nailing the hair and crumbs test, and weaving around the home like a ballet dancer.
Let’s talk about its pièce de résistance – the self-emptying base. The Roomba j7+ seems to have read the room on the vacuuming mood and when it’s full, heads for its Clean Base Automatic Dirt Disposal to offload.
This sealed system is a mini dustbin that can store up to 60 days of detritus.
A quick FYI – while the Roomba is a smart cookie, setting Keep Out zones can only be done post-mapping. It’s like knowing the answer only after the quiz.
Also, the app might play hard to get at times, and tight corners are not its favourite playground. This robotic helper may not be a fit for every home, but when it fits, it really performs.
Bissell ICONPet
Fasten your seatbelts and get ready for a compact dynamo, the Bissell ICONPet at number 4.
This little beast, with a zest for cleanliness, is perfect for the tight corners of smaller spaces, like apartments.
Our professional tester and fellow pet-parent,sang praises of its hair trapping capabilities – making it a great pick for the allergy-prone.
This vacuum isn’t just cordless; it’s got the moves, swiveling around like a pro dancer, and the tangle-free brush roll? It’s a real game-changer.
Its energy comes from a 22V Lithium-Ion battery, providing a solid 50 minutes of uninterrupted power. Talk about productivity!
And for those of you who detest the ‘dirt contact’ part of emptying the dust bin, you’ll be delighted with its Clean Slide technology.

Despite its retro look, it astounded us with its pet hair cleaning capabilities.
It’s not the lightest vacuum at 18lbs, and it can be noisy, but its cleaning performance, clearance under furniture, and 40ft power cord make it an excellent choice for pet owners.
Dyson Outsize +
And finally, at the top of our list, our number 1 pick is the Dyson Outside +.
This beast of a cordless vacuum boasts an impressive 220 AW – that’s comparable to a wired model! This tech-filled wonder has all the bells and whistles Dyson is known for.
Say goodbye to tangled hair thanks to its revamped brush bar and enjoy smooth, effortless cleaning with smart sensors that adjust suction based on your floor type.
